As we head into 2015 we seem to always start the year with setting us up for failure. We are tired of how we feel from the holidays so we decide to make redical changes. Being that I have been in the fitness industry of for 20 years I can tell you most people fail after the first 30-60 days. The advise I would give for those who want it, is to make small steps that will give you short term success and then build on that. Here are 10 simple things you can do to begin having success and empowerment in your lifestyle changes.
- As simple as more water, one more glass a day. Add a squeeze of a fresh lemon to help unclog the kidneys and liver.
- Get more sleep, go to bed 30 minutes earlier. An hour before bed, shut off electronics. Read something positive before bed so your mind is on good things, positive things
- Exercise; walk, stretch for 10 minutes per day for first week then add to it each week. And those who are exercising consistently add a Tabatta session at the end of workout.
- Get at least 2 servings of veggies and fruit to your diet. You can add these to a shake if you dont want to have to actually prepare and eat. I add asparagus, kale, beets, spinach, berries to my protein shake midmorning
- Most people today do not get enough protein in their diet: add a protein shake to your day as a snack or boil eggs to take with you for a quick protein snack.
- Positive affirmations; this is so important, wake up and say this is going to be a great day, I'm thankful I have my health, a job, a home, a car, a spouse, children, whatever you can think of.
- Do something for someone that they can't do for themselves.
- Get outside, breath some fresh air, take a walk on the lunch break
- Deep breathing; most people find they breath very shallow, take a few minutes to take two or three deep breaths, if you find your a little dizzy, you definitely need to do more deep breathing
- Live with purpose in everything you do!!!
